Fendering Consultancy

Burleigh Fendering designs have been acknowledged and respected worldwide by marine, port and terminal operators and consultants for more than 40 years. In 1987 the company was proud to receive the Queen's Award for Export in recognition of their service and achievements in the Marine Industry.
Fendering is an important element in the overall docking, mooring and cargo handling concept for a vessel's safe and efficient turnaround in port.Burleigh Marine Systems have therefore included the design of fendering systems in their services, since it inter-relates closely with AMTS mooring products and Marimatech's laser docking and monitoring equipment.
Burleigh standard and special purpose products can be found in ports in almost all maritime countries.Typical examples of innovative designs are the Burleigh high energy pneumatic wheelfenders fitted to the transit lock knuckles along the Panama canal and on the entrance to the world's two largest sea locks at Antwerp, Belgium.
Success in the fender design requires experience and thorough appraisal of dock structure, types of vessel using the facility and their approach and departure procedures. Operational requirements such as cargo handling, mooring line tensions and forces developed through wind, current and sea state must also be taken into account.
