Laser Docking Systems
In 1988 the first industrial lasers were tested for docking applications. By 1995 Class 1 (fully eye-safe) lasers were integrated into these docking systems enabling safer and more accurate docking procedures. This 'state of the art' technology has proven results in the reduction of accidental damage. Statistical studies show that terminals without laser docking systems have an accident once in every 1000 berthing operations compared to one in every 10,000 berthing operations at terminals with laser guided systems.
